San Antonio, Tx and a file system

Hey everyone!  We have been busy around here, but what else is new!  Going back to work has been interesting and I am only gone from the house for about 4 hours a day.  It makes such a difference as far as getting stuff done!  But the extra money will be nice.  Anyway, on to what we have been up to here!

My mom came down and we took the kids to see The Lorax.  Now, I am a big fan of the original but this one was really good!  The kids did a great job watching and my mom and I had a lots of laughs!  The message is still there and that is awesome!  Friday we took the kids to the park to play and have lunch.  Saturday my husband and I took the kiddos to the San Antonio Zoo.  We stopped at Chickafila on the way out there and my daughter must have drank some bad milk.  She puked as soon as we pulled up to the zoo.  Yikes and Yuck!  We went and cleaned up the van, got back to the zoo and bought her a shirt!  She felt much better after she got the yucky milk out of her system.  Poor baby!  We told her, next time the milk tastes ewww, you can give it to us!

We had lots of fun at the zoo.  Lots of beautiful animals.  We got to see baby otters, tons of birds, black bears and a white rhino.  I have to admit, the animals were a little lazy for a spring day but ah well!  Maybe it was their naptime!  The butterfly house was super amazing!  That was my favorite part of the day!
Here are a few pics!

My son really liked the komodo dragons.

The train around the park next to the zoo was really fun!  The kids loved it!  We went down to the river walk and ate dinner but didn't stay.  St. Patrick's day and spring break make for a crowded downtown!  We will have to go back when there are not two events going on!

I did mange to finish one of the tasks I had been working on.  A file system for the kids and some home information.  I got the idea from Pinterest.  I saw a clear 3section vertical filer at The Container Store and some really cute file folders.  They were both on sale and I picked them up.  Here is a before and after of the shelf I am using for the filer and the filer with the pretty new folders!

Shelf with too much stuff and shelf cleared off!

The filer with the file folders.  I went through our papers and threw out lots of paper!  I labeled the folders and finished!  I would like to do one of these again just because it was so easy and inexpensive to do.  I am thinking one for the desk since we still have paper piling up there.  We just switched to paperless billing and I for one am super excited!  The less paper around here the better!  Thanks for reading this long post everyone!  Hope you all had a great weekend and took some time to organize!

  1. It looks like you all had a great time! I love going to the zoo!

I've just back to part-time work this year too. It's hard to get back into the swing of it all but I'm really loving it!

    Best wishes,

  2. Hey Rebecca! Thanks for stopping by my blog! Love all the organization ideas you've got on here. This post reminded me to get a move on with our paper organizing! It is so easy for it to spiral out of control if you'd don't have a great front-end system, and I need to get one together!

    1. Thanks Erica! Keeping up with paper is one of the hardest organizing areas in our home. I am always thinking or looking for ideas to make it better.

  3. We went to the same zoo last summer! My kids especially loved the flamingos! Thanks so much for linking up to Cowgirl Up! Hope to see you again next week!
