Cabinet Number 1

Well I finished the first cabinet.  I figure I will just go from cabinet to cabinet and if it needs an update I will give it one.  Cabinet number 1 I cleared out first, then painted with a fresh coat of white.

So, here is the before with all the stuff!

The picture on the left is before paint and the next two are after paint.

It's done!  Wow, so much better right?  I wanted just a few things in this area because it was too crowded!  On the counter is coffee, cups, sugar, coffee maker and filters.

I used my cake stand for the sugar, filters and coffee.  The sugar packets are in a little bowl I had and the coffee is in a new container from Target.  My husband told me coffee cannot be exposed to light or else it loses its flavor.  I don't drink it, so that was new to me!  The cups are placed underneath for easy access.

The coffee maker is right beside the cake stand and a larger container is next to that full of more sugar.  Yes, there are three different kinds of sugar here, but all organic.  Does that make it right?

The next two pictures are the inside of the cabinet.  Big improvement!!!!  Tea and extra filters are on this shelf.  Yes, that is kool aid in the corner.  I am trying to get away from buying that stuff.  The tea packets I placed into containers that I already had.  They are from IKEA.  Next two shelves are bowls, extra cups and some kinda coffee thing my husband keeps.  We do have more cereal bowls, but they were in the dishwasher.  Haha!  There were other items that found a new home or are waiting patiently for one.  All in all I am pleased with the results.

Stay tuned through the weeks for more awesome kitchen cabinet updates!  Woo-hoo!

What are you doing to make your kitchen look better or work better for you?  I would love to hear!

It still taste good Mom!

Hope everyone is having a great week so far.  I am currently re-organizing some of my kitchen cupboards.  I meant only to do the one that holds coffee, tea and bowls but it has spilled over into other areas.  Sometimes that can happen, you start on one space and end up doing three!  I will post pictures and steps when I am all done!

So last night I wanted to make a recipe I found on Six Sisters' Stuff.  I wanted the kiddos to help because the recipe was really easy and totally up their ally.  So we started to make our Braided Pizza Loaf.  We had fun putting all the ingredients together and popped it into the oven.  Twenty minutes later it was done.  The house smelled so awesome!  We were all excited to try our creation.  So, I cut everyone a slice and my son was the first one to try a bite.  "Hey Mom!  Where is the pizza sauce?  It's not on here".  he says.  What?  Are you kidding me?  I forgot to get out and put on one of the main ingredients of the pizza loaf!  My husband had come home while the pizza loaf was still in the oven and he saw the sauce in the pantry.  He said he thought I knew what I was doing and didn't say anything.  Ha ha!  I have no clue what I am doing!  To make this story short, we dipped our slices into the pizza sauce and all was well.  Everyone said they really liked the pizza loaf.

Just think how much better it will be next time when I remember the pizza sauce!

Spring Mantel

Hey out there!  Hope everyone has had a great Friday.  I finished my spring mantel today and am really pleased with how it turned out.  My husband even gave me some input on the arrangement.  He's awesome!  The mantel actually went through two transformations before I settled on this set up.  Third times a charm!  Here is a picture of the first look:

There were a couple of things I didn't like about it.  The big pink balls for sure.  Next would be the bunnies.  I want this set up to last for awhile, and bunnies just say Easter to much.  At least that's what I thought.  So I put the bunnies back in my daughter's room.  Here is a close up of them.  I have had them for years and they are super cute!

Okay, now here is look number two:

I am close to what I want!  The green tulip vase just didn't go.  I loved my son's art as well, but just not for this look.  I also was not sold on how I had placed the frames.

Now for the final lucky number three:

Yes!  I got it right.  I wanted the ends to be more symmetrical and I think this is pretty good.  I like the height of the frames in the middle too.  Here are some close ups!

I really like this!  The tin vase I got at Target for $2.50.  I had ribbon left over from another project and the floral is from Hobby Lobby.  I got those for 50% off.  So they were $1.50 each.  This look was $10.00 total!

The milk glass vases I found in two different shops in downtown Brenham, Tx.  My hometown!  I love strolling all the shops.  I am never disappointed.  These little mice I found in Brenham at the Pomegranate.    It is located in downtown Brenham too.  There is a great little place called the Funky Art Cafe inside the shop.  Great place for lunch.  The total for these four pieces plus the flowers from Target was about $23.00.

Lastly, the butterflies were made by my daughter and myself.  We used coffee filters, watercolors, clothespins and pipe cleaners.  She had a lot of fun making them.  The pictures are of my sweet kiddos!  Their first year frames.  I just felt like showing them off.

I hope this mantel will inspire you to get ready for Spring!  Have a great weekend.
